Aloha,

Both of us were born in Hawaii and it remains an important part of our life here on the “9th Island”. Our journey from Hawaii to Lake Las Vegas brought us via California. In 2018 we were finally able to settle into our forever home here in Nevada.

After 30-plus years of being a nurse, it was time to follow my long-time passion of floral design formally. On Girls Day 2025, I filed my LLC and made it official! I grew up in Hawaii picking flowers in our backyard for leis and arrangements. Sometimes we would pick flowers at Tai Po’s (Grandma) house, my Aunty’s house and occasionally sneaking some flowers off a neighbor’s plumeria tree or pikake plant. I did the florals at a friend’s wedding in 1987 and have done a few more weddings (including my own) and events over the years for friends and colleagues as a favor or as a gift.

While I love flowers, what I love most about doing this is time spent together when working on these floral designs. This includes, time with my husband, friends, family and getting to know our clients along the way.

Fortunately, my husband is very supportive of starting my dream business and brought his skill set from his prior job to be the “builder” in Builder & Blooms by creating all of our custom structures. He has come up with some great ideas! Who knew building trucks and fixing robots would come in handy in floral design?

Our logo is our family Mon or Japanese crest. Interestingly, it looks like a flower with a structure in the center…perfect for Builder & Blooms!
